Juomus
Jäänalaista talvikalastusta verkoilla. Talvella verkoista tehtiin juomus, juoŋas, mikä tarkoitti verkon laittamista jään alle. Jäähän hakattiin avanto, josta jään alle pujotettiin pitkä salko eli uppi. Sen päähän oli sidottu tauko eli vetonaru. Upin alkupään kohdalle jäähän hakattiin jälleen avanto, josta uppia uitettiin eteenpäin koko sen pituudelta. Kun verkon mitta oli saavutettu, vedettiin verkko tauon avulla jään alle. Se laskettiin narujen varassa pohjaan ja narun toiseen päähän sidottiin koivukeppi. Tämä taas oli kiinni jäällä olevassa puurakennelmassa, jonka avulla juomuksen kokija löysi verkkonsa.

In winter fish nets were set under the ice. This process was called juoŋas . A hole was made in the ice, and a long pole with a line attached to the end was inserted through it. Another hole was made in the ice at the other end of the pole, from where the pole was again pushed to its full length to a third hole, and so on. When the length of the net was reached, it was pulled under the ice by means of the line. The net was allowed to sink to the bottom. It had lines attached to a birch stick, which in turn was fixed to a wooden structure on the surface of the ice. This permitted the person who set the nets to find it again.
