The Sámi anthem
Far to the north, beneath the Great Bear Sápmi reveals its mystery: Never-ending mountain crests, Ever-lasting lakes and tarns; Crag, fell and moorland heights Reaching out to the firmament; Gushing rivers, sighing forests; Steel-grey headlands Rearing over roaring seas.
Sápmi, land of Sámi kinsfolk; Ever-vigilant, never-yielding To mur Our forefathers of old, Achieved victory over adversity. Kinsfolk! Let us confound our adversaries With our patience and stamina. Indefatigable sons of the Sun-Father! Repressors cannot triumph If we cherish our golden language. Treasure the words of our forebears: Sápmi for the Sámi!
