The most important instruments of international law concerning indigenous peoples and their rights are the [[ILO Convention (No. 169) concerning Indigenous and Tribal Peoples in Independet Countries|ILO Convention on Indigenous and Tribal Peoples in Independent Countries]] (No. 169), the [[YK:n yleissopimus|UN Convenant on Political and Civil Rights]], the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities and the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages.
