The northwestern part of the White Sea, the Kandalaksha Gulf indents the coastline between the Kola Peninsula and Dvina-Karelia. The southeastern border of Fennoscandia runs from the southern end of the White Sea from the Gulf of Onega, across the Onega Isthmus to Lake Onega.
