It was drawn by a team of three [[Reindeer|reindeer]]. The Komi people brought this vehicle into the Kola Peninsula when they migrated there in the nineteenth century. It had four back sloping uprights. Unlike the [[Nulposleigh|nulpposleigh]], they were not joined crosswise with lengths of willow; instead a pole was inserted through holes in the crosspieces and fixed with wooden pins. The driving sleigh had a short seat platform with a backrest. The middle reindeer was the leader of the troika, and it was directed by the driver. It was harnessed directly to the sleigh. The outside reindeer were attached by a single trace which slid through the framework of the sleigh. This enabled the driver to see that both animals were pulling their weight equally. The team usually went for a whole day without being freed from their harnesses.

harnesses.

+
