<P align="justify">In North Saami th … <P align="justify">In North Saami the word <i>gallót</i> means a shoe/boot, or the sole or other part thereof, which is made from the skull or scalp of a reindeer. It is a derivative of the word <i>gállu</i> brow, skull or scalp (of a reindeer) . A word with this meaning is found all [[Modern Saami languages|Saami languages]]. It is a borrowing from the Finnish word <i>kallo</i> skull . The derivative meaning a shoe is also known throughout the area where Saami is spoken. It has also been borrowed into neighbouring languages: in Finnish it appears as <i>kallokas</i>, and in the dialect of Russian spoken in the Pechenga region it has taken the form <i>kallaka</i>, both of which have the same meaning as the Saami word. The Finnish word <i>kallo</i>, which is the source of the Saami words for skull, is not Finnic in origin. It was borrowed from a Scandinavian word, which is found in present-day Norwegian and Swedish in the form <i>skalle</i> skull .</p>
