<P align="justify"> Wolverine (Gulo gulo), the largest mustelid. It has dark brown, almost black fur with light brown streaks along the sides. The wolverine (also known as the glutton) is 69 83 cm in length with a 16 25-cm-long tail, and it weighs 10 26 kg. Its paws are large in comparison with its size. It lives in the backwoods and avoids settlements. It is a nocturnal animal and can travel long distances. Its main sustenance consists of small mammals, but it also eats plants, carcasses and reindeer, and its hoards its supplies of food. The wolverine has a prolonged gestation (cf. that of the Brown bear), and the litter of one to four cubs is born between January and April. It can live up to fifteen years. In 2002 there were 570 individuals in the Nordic countries: 120 in Finland, 300 in Sweden and 150 in Norway.
