Separate administrative areas in Norway and Sweden where the provisions of the respective Saami Language Acts are applied. In Norway the area comprises the municipalities of Kárášjohka (Karasjok), Guovdageaidnu (Kautokeino), Porsáŋgu (Porsanger), Deatnu (Tana) and Unjárga (Nesseby) in the Province of Finnmark and Gáivuotna (Kårfjord) in the Province of Tromsø. The Swedish area is made up of the municipalities of Arjjapluovvi (Arjeplog), Váhčir (Gällivare), Johkamohkki (Jokkmokk) and Giron (Kiruna).
