A prehistoric period ({{Artikkelilinkki|1410|Prehistoric Age}}) in which important tools were made from bronze. The archaeological material of northern and eastern {{Artikkelilinkki|1522|Fennoscandia}} shows the influence of both {{Artikkelilinkki|1589|Scandinavian}} and eastern Russian Bronze Age cultures. These have their own periodizations, which can also be applied to the corresponding Fennoscandian material. Since finds that reflect the production and use of bronze objects are partly extremely rare in this area, Swedish and Norwegian scholars frequently use the term {{Artikkelilinkki|1409|‘Epineolithic’}} to describe the nature of the prevailing culture. In accordance with the practice adopted in this encyclopaedia, ‘Bronze Age’ is used as a technical term for the examination of metal objects with reference to the archaeological material of northern and eastern Fennoscandia in the period 1900-500 B.C.

{{Artikkelilinkki|1431|Chronology.}}

{{Artikkelilinkki|20140806092742| Table of contents: Archaeology}}
