A method of tracking down a bear in its winter lair in order to kill it there later. When the first snows came, the bear began to look for a suitable place to hibernate in. The hunter moved in a wide circle around the bear s tracks in the snow: if on his tour he found more tracks, he made a new circle in the direction of the tracks, but if he completed the whole circle without finding any more tracks, he began to decrease the radius of his tour until he found the place where the bear was hibernating. He marked the spot with arrows attached to trees, so that he could find it again when he went to kill the bear in the winter.

{{Artikkelilinkki|20140716162429|Table of contents: Means of livelyhood and transport}}
